Helen Mouton Landry, LCSW
Helen Landry, LCSW, provides psychodynamic psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults and couples. She has expertise and interest in adolescent girls and their growth and development as well as their peer relationships. She has worked extensively with adolescents in their preparation and adjustment to the pressures of high school through their applications to college.
Ms. Landry works with adults in the treatment of anxiety and depression and relationship issues. She is currently training in Contemplative Psychotherapy, bringing Mindfulness Practice into the treatment of anxiety and depression and its use in improving focus and relationships.
Ms. Landry has extensive experience treating couples with relationship difficulties.
Education and Experience
Ms. Landry is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After completing her professional training at The Catholic University of America, she worked for four years at Jewish Family Services of Baltimore. During this time she was trained in psychoanalytic play therapy with children and psychodynamic psychotherapy with adolescents and adults. She did multiple trainings at the Johns Hopkins Mood Disorders Symposium and at Sheppard Pratt Hospital.
She continued to work in Baltimore in private practice with the Pastoral Counseling Services of Maryland. This practice supports the presence of spiritual practices and beliefs as a strength in the counseling process. She also worked at St. Paul's School for Girls as a psychological consultant.
In 1998, Ms. Landry moved to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where she worked in private practice and as a psychological consultant at Cranbrook School, Academy of the Sacred Heart School, and Kensington Academy. While in Michigan, Ms. Landry developed an interest and expertise in working with the gifted population and their social and emotional development through her work with the Roeper School for the Gifted.
In 2004, Ms. Landry moved to Richmond. She began working in private practice at Westhampton Family Psychologists in 2005.
